                                   James (Jim) Bedford Atkins 1897-1926

James Bedford Was the oldest child Of Elisha Joe and Nellie F. Atkins. He was born in 1898 on December 18. His birthdate might actually vary because I have seen any where from 1896-1898 on various things.  I do know that he was married to a Eva Dee Warden and had three children.  They Married November 6-9th, 1920. James was in the Army, the Texas general service entry and enlisted on August 3rd 1918 and was discharged on 12-9-1918. On James appearance we can see from the draft card below he had brown hair and brown eyes. According to James Death certificate he suffered from the Flu in 1917 and 1918, which is stated as contributory cause of his death in 1926 of Tuberculosis. James is Buried in Van Alstyne Cemetery, Van Alstyne Texas. Greer Block four. Though James was in the army he never saw action, peace came before he could be shipped to Europe.
